Silicon is one of the most important minerals for development. It is an alkaline-forming trace mineral important for every
cell of the body, but particularly important for the brain. Psychologically, silicon gives a person
more courage, more balance, and more ease in living their life.
TECHNICAL
DATA
Silicon has a valence of +4.
It is an alkaline-forming, female mineral whose color when electrified
is yellow-white.
Silica. The
oxidized form of silicon is called silica. It is found most commonly in beach sand. It gives sand its light color and its
peculiar properties of accumulating on the shores of rivers and particularly
the oceans of the world.
It makes the ocean shimmer because of its reflective properties, and
this actually warns fish and other sea life that shore is near. Silica is considered one of the most
common compounds on earth.
SOURCES
There are many silicon compounds found in nature. Many foods contain one or more of the
silicon compounds.
Our interest in silicon is primarily for development, however, and for
this purpose few foods contain the right compounds. Among these are almond butter, sardine skin, onions, runny egg yolk,
goat yogurt or goat kefir, and meats, particularly red meat such as lamb and
beef.
New
Research. Recently, we have found a few people
who need extra silicon. They often
have constipation, dry skin, and vaginal dryness that do not respond to other
methods of corrections. Silicon
supplements donÕt work well, but flax seeds, okra, and nutritional yeast are
helpful. They are not part of the
development diet, so we do not recommend them for everyone.
Other silicon compounds are not helpful for development, such as those
found in oats, barley, rye, corn, peas, beans, lentils, wheat, spinach,
lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, rice polishings, oat straw tea, coconut, other
nuts, sage, thyme, hops, prunes, bone marrow, cold liver oil and other fish
oils.
FUNCTIONS
Overall. Silicon gives all tissues a slippery or silky smooth
quality that helps them all function better.
The
brain. Silicon is extremely vital for the cerebral cortex and
thinking. It helps a person
concentrate, remember and think clearly.
It is also important for the cerebellum, a part of the brain associated
with maintaining balance in the body and in the mind, as well.
Peripheral
nervous system. All of the peripheral nerves also depend upon
silicon for their activity and integrity.
Membranes.
Silicon is also needed for all membranes in the body such as the fascia,
meninges, periosteum, intestinal support membranes and others.
Connective
tissues. (Hair, skin and nails).
Silicon tends to give them more strength and flexibility, and helps them
slide over each other properly. It
helps prevent Adhesions, which are very
common.
Reproduction.
Silicon is also necessary for reproduction and prevention of birth
defects. Silicon gives hair and
skin a beauty, as well, or shininess that is quite physically attractive and
assists reproduction.
Happiness
and ease. This is related to the effect of silicon on the
brain and nervous system. Silicon
helps ease all stress in the body and thus contributes to joy and happiness in
an important way. Silicon is the
happiness mineral.
DEFICIENCY
SYMPTOMS
These relate to the body systems described above.
Connective
tissues. Symptoms include constipation, prolapsed or weak colon and
small intestines, dryness of the skin and lips, wrinkling of the skin, vaginal
dryness, hair loss, dull-looking hair and eyes, weak bones and ligaments, weak,
brittle hair, split nails and weak, thin or broken nails.
Brain. These include coordination problems, weak thinking
and lack of Development.
Other.
Fungal diseases, feeling like one is going to die, aches and pains,
inflammation, impotence and other sexual imbalances.
TOXICITY
SYMPTOMS
An excess of good quality silicon is unknown on earth. Our food today is low in silicon due to
refining of wheat, rice and sugar.
In the rare cases of silicon overload, it can cause a flushed face,
nervousness, especially in the fingers and feet, difficulty relaxing, heat and
excess moisture in the body, and constant hunger but unable to gain weight.
Amigo
silicon or silica. This is the presence of too much
oxidized silicon. It is common and
contributes to inflammation, pain, anger and irritability.
SUPPLEMENTATION
We prefer to obtain silicon from foods, which are listed at the
beginning of this article.
Supplements do not work as well, so far.
Some doctors use herbs such as horse tail, corn silk tea, and oat
straw tea, but we find these somewhat toxic and not too helpful. A supplement called BioSil
(choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid) is also available, but not too good.
HAIR
ANALYSIS NOTES
ARL does not read silicon levels. Some other labs do read it, but their readings are not
accurate so we do not bother with it.
Silicon is part of the third tetra of minerals on a hair chart. The third tetra is chromium, selenium,
silicon and boron.
Most everyone is low in bioavailable silicon, no matter what a hair
test or other type of test indicates.
One difficulty is that hair and other types of testing cannot
distinguish between silica and silicon, and this reduces the value of testing
for this mineral.
SILICON
AND OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS
The silicon compounds that assist development seem to be associated or
found along with foods that contain some omega-3 fatty acids. These include almond butter, organic
beef, sardines, and high-quality egg yolk.
TRANSMUTATIONS
Silicon can be transformed into selenium inside the body. This is the main transmutation,
although there are others. The
transmutation occurs easily in developed people, but not in those who are not developed or just
beginning the development process.
INDUSTRIAL
USES
Silicon is used a lot in industry because it is inexpensive, plentiful
and has low toxicity.
Semiconductors.
Silicon is famous for its use in the semi-conductor industry, for
transistors and integrated circuits.
Semiconductors do not conduct electricity under normal circumstances,
but will do so if conditions are made right for them by passing an electrical
current through them at right angles to the direction one wishes to induce a
flow of current. This is the basis
for the operation of all transistors and other semi-conductor materials.
Lubricants.
Silicon is used in lubricants because of its ÒslipperyÓ or ÒeaseÓ
quality.
Glass. Glass
is made from silicon, mainly, and of course is a critical material on earth.
Amigo
Silicon. Silica, the oxidized form of silicon, is used as an abrasive
in things like sandpaper because it is quite a hard substance. It is the Òamigo formÓ of silicon, which
has the exact opposite properties of good silicon.
It is a powerful irritant to the body tissues. Most everyone has some of this, and it
is associated with joint pain and other symptoms of inflammation and
irritation.
