I. INTRODUCTION

NOTE: In the past, we did not recommend peanuts. However, this has changed. At this time (August 2024), peanuts, when used properly, are a helpful food for health and development.

WHAT ARE PEANUTS?

Beans. Peanuts are technically a legume or bean. They are not nuts, so the name is misleading.

Beans are a very common and nourishing food. They are widely used by human beings and animals and are part of the diet of many nations.

Beans are able to capture nitrogen from the air and fix it in the soil. This is very important for the health of the soil and all plants. Plants need a lot of nitrogen to make protein and other substances.

Farmers today put chemical nitrogen on their crops. However, the nitrogen from bean plants is much better.

PROBLEMS WITH BEANS

We do not recommend eating many beans for two reasons:

- Most beans are low in etheric energy and are not needed for the amazing process called development.

- Beans are also somewhat cold or yin in macrobiotic terminology. All bodies are already too cold, so eating a lot of beans does not balance the body.

DEVELOPMENT

Development is a genetic upgrade of the body that is quite amazing and prolongs life and improves health. It is not taught much on earth because those in charge of our planet do not want people to know about it.

We are honored to be able to teach about it at this time. For details, read Introduction To Development and Introduction To The Development Program.

SPECIAL QUALITIES OF PEANUTS

- Starting about two years ago, special souls are entering peanut plants. These sols are most helpful for our health and for the health of the planet. This is the main reason we now recommend eating a few peanuts each day.

OTHER QUALITIES OF PEANUTS

- Peanuts are unusual among beans in that they grow underground. This makes them a warmer or more yang food in macrobiotic terminology. This is a helpful quality today, as explained above.

- Peanuts are high in protein, edible oil and many nutrients. Also, the quality of peanut protein is excellent. It is a complete protein food. This is not true of most other beans.

- Peanuts are high in selenium, zinc, and many other micronutrients that are needed today. Many of these nutrients are difficult to obtain from many other foods.

II. PEANUT RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Organically grown is best.

2. Peanuts that are roasted and salted are okay.

3. Buy peanuts that are in the shell or buy peanut butter if it is very fresh. Some stores grind peanut butter fresh every week or so. A few stores have a machine where you can grind your own fresh, organically grown peanut butter. Look at labels and if peanut butter is more than two weeks old, don't buy it.

4. Peanuts should taste good. If a peanut tastes bad, better to spit it out.

5. Adults need to eat about two peanuts each day or about a teaspoon of peanut butter each day. Children do well with peanuts and can eat a little more – up to several teaspoons daily or about 5 or 6 peanuts daily, depending upon their size and weight.

6. Peanuts are a protein food and for this reason are best eaten at or near the beginning of a meal.

III. OTHER TOPICS

PEANUT TOXICITY

1. Legume toxicity. Most legumes are slightly toxic. This is one reason we don't recommend eating a lot of beans, except for green beans, which are a vegetable.

2. Rancid oil used in roasting. Dry roasted peanuts are generally better than peanuts roasted in oil for this reason.

3. Food allergies. Peanuts have a somewhat bad reputation for causing food allergies. While true in some cases, this does not detract from the value of correctly eating peanuts at this time.

If you are allergic to peanuts, the reason is usually impaired digestion. In this case, wait to eat peanuts and strictly eat the development diet. After a few months to one year, peanut allergies will usually subside as your digestion improves.

4. Aflatoxin. This is a toxic mold that can grow on peanuts. All peanuts are inspected to detect this mold and are not allowed to be sold if it is present.

5. Other mold. Peanuts can grow other types of mold. Fresh, non moldy peanuts are best.

HISTORY OF PEANUTS IN THE UNITED STATES

About 150 years ago, farmers in the South of the United States were growing a lot of cotton and tobacco. These crops were depleting the soil and this became a serious agricultural problem.

At this time, there arose a most wonderful and amazing man, George Washington Carver. His story is totally inspiring!

He was born a black slave near the end of the American Civil War (1863). Shortly after his birth, he was adopted by a white couple, who recognized his talents and made sure he received the best education possible.

He graduated from the University of Missouri, where he worked for many years. He became one of the most brilliant plant scientists who ever lived anywhere, at any time!

The focus of his work was peanuts. He researched them carefully and found over 200 products that can be made using peanuts. These included not just food products, but also industrial oils, plastics and other needed products. Peanut products found their way into automobiles and many other products thanks to his work.

Perhaps most important, he convinced many Southern farmers in America to grow peanuts to save the land that had become depleted by growing just cotton or tobacco. To read his inspiring life story, a place to begin is our short article, George Washington Carver.
