I. INTRODUCTION

DEFINITION. Early and late mineral patterns refers to whether a mineral pattern is just beginning, is full-blown, or is ending. Early and late patterns have to do with the direction of movement of the mineral patterns – meaning whether they are just beginning or are ending.

The idea of early and late patterns has a lot to do with the concept of Retracing. One can be just beginning to retrace a pattern, or one can be in the midst of the pattern, or one may be finishing up retracing a pattern.

The larger topic of which this is a part is called movement. For details, read The Movement Concept.

HOW TO DETERMINE EARLY AND LATE PATTERNS

One needs to compare mineral levels on a previous test with those of a current test. If the direction of movement of the levels, ratios or a pattern indicates the beginning of a pattern, then it is an early pattern.

However, if the direction of movement of the levels, ratios or a pattern indicates that a pattern is ending, it is a late pattern.

II. EXAMPLES

BOWLING

The mineral pattern we call bowling is an example of early pattern. Bowling occurs on a retest mineral analysis when the levels of calcium and potassium increase while the levels of magnesium and sodium decrease.

Meaning. In this case, one is moving toward a bowl pattern. However, the bowl pattern has not yet appeared. If the bowl pattern has appeared, we would call it a bowl, not bowling. Bowling is an earlier pattern that is really a direction of movement.

VARIANTS OF BOWLING

Mild and more extreme versions. Milder versions of the bowling pattern occurs if one, two or three of the mineral levels remain the same on the retest.

The pattern is also milder if the change in the levels is minor. Whereas the pattern is stronger if the amount of change of the mineral levels is greater.

Second tetra. Bowling can also occur on the second tetra of minerals or second four minerals. In this case, the levels of iron and zinc increase while the levels of copper and manganese decrease.

Once again, milder versions of the pattern occur if one, two or three of the mineral levels remain the same on the retest.

Combinations. One can also have a combination of bowling on the first tetra and on the second tetra of minerals. This is a stronger bowling pattern than if it just occurs on the first four minerals. In advanced acupuncture, this pattern is called sinking into the abyss.

HILLING

Hilling occurs on a retest mineral analysis when the levels of calcium and potassium decrease while the levels of magnesium and sodium increase. In this case, one is moving toward a hill pattern, but a hill pattern has not yet appeared.

VARIANTS ON THE HILLING PATTERN

Milder and more extreme versions. Milder versions of this pattern occur if one, two or three of the mineral levels remain the same.

The pattern is also milder if the change in the mineral levels is slight. The pattern is more extreme if the change in the mineral levels is more pronounced.

Second tetra. The pattern can also occur on the second tetra of minerals. In this case, the iron and zinc levels decrease while the copper and manganese levels increase.

Once again, milder versions occur if one, two or three of these minerals remains the same on a retest.

Combination. As with bowling, one can have a combination of hilling pattern on both the first and the second tetra of minerals. This is a stronger hilling pattern. In advanced acupuncture, this is called emerging from the abyss.

OTHER EARY AND LATE PATTERNS

Many of the mineral analysis patterns can be assessed as early or late. One can be moving toward a calcium shell or one can be moving away or finishing up retracing a calcium shell pattern.

One can be moving toward a death or trauma pattern (a double low ratio pattern), or one may be finishing up retracing a death or trauma pattern.

IF A PATTERN IS BEGINNING ON A RETEST, DOES IT NECESSARILY MEAN THE FULL-BLOWN PATTERN WILL APPEAR IN THE FUTURE?

No. It is possible that one does not need to retrace or pass through the full-blown pattern. Perhaps one only needs to retrace a partially developed pattern.

III. THE VELOCITY CONCEPT IN HAIR ANALYSIS INTERPRETATION

DEFINITION. Velocity refers to the speed of change of the mineral levels, ratios and/or patterns on hair mineral retest analyses. Change can occur quickly or slowly.

IV. THE INTENSITY CONCEPT IN HAIR ANALYSIS INTERPRETATION

DEFINITION. Intensity refers to the degree of change of the hair mineral levels, ratios and/or patterns that occurs on retests. Change can be mild, moderate or extreme.

We will explore the concepts of velocity and intensity more in the future because they assist with understanding tissue mineral retests.
