I. INTRODUCTION

DEFINITION

Criteria. Double high ratio pattern is present on a tissue mineral analysis when the calcium/magnesium ratio AND the sodium/potassium ratio are both elevated.
In a human being, the exact criteria are a calcium/magnesium ratio above 9.5 AND a sodium/potassium ratio above 6.
Animals and the soil. This mineral pattern is very common in humans, animals and in the soil. NOTE: The criteria for the pattern in animals and the soil are different than for humans.
II. MEANING OF DOUBLE HIGH RATIO PATTERN
Inflammation. This pattern is one of the major inflammation patterns seen on tissue mineral tests. Inflammation is one of the most basic imbalances that is present in most human, animal and plant bodies.
Other tissue mineral patterns associated with inflammation are:
- The presence of the irritants or amigos
- A low zinc level.
- High levels of other toxic metals such as cadmium.
For details, read The Amigos – Iron, Manganese, Aluminum And Others, Zinc, Cadmium and Inflammation.
A double pattern. The pattern consists of two ratios that are both elevated. This type of pattern is called a doubling pattern. In this instance, it is a doubling of a high ratio of the electrolyte minerals.
Anger. Anger is an adrenal response to fear that is associated with inflamed emotions. So it is a more extreme indicator of inflammation, acute stress, and/or anger.
III. OTHER TOPICS
RELATION TO ZINC
There is always an intense need for zinc supplementation when this pattern is present. Zinc tends to lower the calcium/magnesium and sodium/potassium ratios.
COMBINATIONS WITH OTHER PATTERNS
Doubling of the pattern. At times, a double high ratio pattern is present on both the first four and the second four mineral levels. (The first and second tetra of minerals). This indicates an even more extreme inflammation condition. In this case, it is called a double double high ratio pattern.
It could be a partial double double high ratio pattern if only one of the other ratios is elevated on another mineral tetra. It could also be a triple double high mineral pattern if it were present on three mineral tetras. NOTE: At this time (May 2023), Analytical Research Labs only reads the first two tetras of minerals.
