I. INTRODUCTION
Many people believe that a certain diet and particular supplements are the key to health. The reality is that they can also be killers.
I have learned a lot about popular bad dietary advice by working with tens of thousands of people over 43 years. This article discusses some of the major errors people make, and which many health professionals teach.
WHAT IS THE KILLER ADVICE?
It consists of:
1. A lot of raw food in the diet.
2. A vegetarian diet.
3. Lots of vitamin C – 2 grams daily or more for adults and less for children.
4. Lots of exercise.
5. Smoothies and protein powders.
6. Lots of nutritional supplements.
7. Lots of juices.
8. Fruit in the diet.
9. Too much fermented food.
10. Mushrooms or other fungi.
11. Eating fish.
12. Drinking red wine or other alcoholic beverages.
13. Eating chocolate, even pure dark chocolate.
14. Using herbs and homeopathy, especially a lot or long-term use.
II. EXPLANATION - WHY IT KILLS
1. Raw foods. Uncooked food is more cold or yin in macrobiotic terms. This is a problem because all the bodies today are already too yin.
Excessive yin is due to exposure to radiation, toxic metals in all food, toxic chemicals in the environment, electronic pollution (especially cell phones and cell phone towers), and a mineral-depleted food supply due to the widespread use of N-P-K or superphosphate agricultural methods. This is used on organic food as well as commercial food.
Also, one absorbs fewer minerals from raw vegetables than cooked ones. The reason is that the human digestive tract cannot break down tough vegetable fibers well enough to extract the bulk of the minerals from the vegetables. For details, read Raw Food.
2. A vegetarian diet. This diet is too yin, and it is deficient in sulfur amino acids, zinc, carnitine, taurine and other nutrients. Some red meat such as lamb is also excellent for health. For many more details, read Vegetarian Diets.
3. Three or more grams of vitamin C daily. Vitamin C is extremely yin. In addition, it is a chelator that lowers copper in the body, in particular. It will also remove other vital minerals via chelation. For details, read Vitamin C.
4. Lots of exercise. The bodies today are too weak, toxic and depleted for so much exercise. The exercise damages the adrenals, the thyroid, the joints and more. For details, read Exercise.
5. Drinking smoothies. These have many problems. They are bad food combinations in most cases. They include too much water which dilutes the stomach acid. Most also contain sugars or sweets so they are extremely yin. For details, read Smoothies.
6. Lots of supplements. Most nutritional supplements are very yin. Also, when not chosen carefully, supplements easily negate one another in their metabolic effects. For details, read Nutritional Supplements.
7. Juices. These are nourishing, but also very yin because they are raw and broken apart. Fruit juices are particularly yin. We only recommend up to 12 ounces of carrot juice only for adults per day.
8. Fruit in the diet. Sadly, fruit is not a good food today. It picks up a lot of toxic potassium from the N-P-K fertilizers used on all of it, it is very yin in macrobiotic terminology, and has other problems. The exception is one can eat 2-3 black olives per week. For more details, read Fruit-Eating.
9. A lot of fermented food. All fermented food is quite yin because it is raw and fungal or bacteria or yeast-based. We recommend some cheese, yogurt, kefir but not much else and not too much. For details, read Fermented Food.
10. Mushrooms. These are popular today and even recommended by some health authorities. However, they are very yin and all are somewhat toxic. For details, read Mushrooms.
11. Eating fish and seafood. Very sadly, most fish today is too high in mercury. Seafood is even worse because most is raised in shallow water and contaminated with other toxic metals and chemicals in addition to mercury. We only recommend sardines and a little herring for this reason. For details, read Fish-Eating, And Why Avoid Almost All Fish.
12. Drinking red wine or other alcoholic beverages. Some health authorities recommend drinking some red wine because it contains anti-oxidants and other nutrients. However, all alcoholic beverages are very yin.
Wine is the the worst of alcoholic beverages in terms of toxic chemicals because growing grapes commercially almost always requires some lead arsenate pesticide, even organic wine.
13. Eating chocolate. Some health authorities recommend eating pure, dark chocolate because it contains anti-oxidant nutrients. However, it is another very yin food that unbalances the body.
14. Using herbs and homeopathy, especially using a lot or long-term use. Herbs have a number of problems. The main one is that most of them are too yin. Coffee is an exception when used in enemas. Most herbs are also toxic today. They pick up toxic metals and many of them have drug-like effects. If they did not have drug-like effects, they would be called food, not herbs. For details, read Herbs.
Homeopathy is toxic and very yin, although the toxicity is subtle. Please do not use it. For details, read Homeopathy.
HOW DOES THE KILLER COMBINATION AFFECT THE BODY AND BRAIN?
It makes the body extremely yin. This is its main destructive effect. It does not matter that the person may be well-nourished, usually thanks to the juices and the nutritional supplements.
Yin and yin disease is a situation in which the body is too cold, watery and expanded in physics terminology. While it is a subtle concept, it is very real.
Yin is also related to a slow oxidation rate, weak adrenal glands, a weak thyroid gland, and mental weakness as well. For more on this topic, also read Yin And Yang Healing.
