Spinal stenosis is a rather common condition in which the nerves leading away from the spinal column become compressed. This causes pain in the back, or at times causes pain along the sciatic nerve which runs from the base of the spine down the back of the leg. These are annoying conditions for which the medical profession offers little relief except for surgery. Back surgery, however, is quite involved and therefore risky.
NUTRITIONAL BALANCING AND SPINAL STENOSIS
In all cases, we find that spinal stenosis is due to some combination of the following:
1. Inflammation and consequent swelling of the tissues around the vertebrae. Often, this is due to nutritional imbalances, such as the presence of the amigos, or low levels of zinc, vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids and other essential nutrients.
A general yin condition of the body is also associated with swelling.
2. The presence of toxic metals or other toxic substances that irritate and inflame the tissues of this region of the body. This causes inflammation, and later degeneration of the bones and soft tissues in and around the vertebral column.
3. Spinal subluxations can be the real cause of so-called spinal stenosis. These are tiny misalignments of the vertebral column that are also quite common. Sadly, they are not even recognized as valid health problems by most medical doctors.
Also, they cannot always be seen on x-rays, so they are often missed during medical checkups. They are addressed by quality chiropractic or osteopathic care.
If one addresses these three causes of back problems with a complete nutritional balancing program, surgery is most often totally unnecessary. It may take a few months to a few years on a program to fully correct spinal stenosis, but it does correct, in almost all cases, results in far better health, and is much safer than surgery.
SYMPTOMATIC REMEDIES FOR SPINAL STENOSIS
I would not bother with anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-inflammatory herbs and other remedies. They are not nearly as good as correcting inflammation at its source.
