This is an important article because it is the basis for understanding nutritional balancing, as compared with most other healing methods.  Nutritional balancing is a path, whereas most healing methods consist of a set of remedies and procedures, but that is all.  A path is much more than this.

Definition.  A path is a set of rules and procedures designed to move a person to a specific goal.

Examples include all or most religions, and academic paths such as going to high school and then college.  Nutritional balancing is the most powerful path we are aware of today for Development.

QUALITIES OF PATHS

Safety.  The general idea is that if one stays on the correct path, the outcome will be assured.  If one deviates and goes off the path, then, in most cases, one will not achieve one’s goal or will not arrive at the stated goal.

Thus one quality of a path is safety.  Staying on the path keeps one properly focused, and keeps a person away from many dangers and temptations.

Speed.  Staying on the path generally moves a person toward his or her goal much faster than random motion.  The path may seem to twist and turn, but in fact, it moves one quickly toward one’s goal.

Comfort.  Although this may not always appear to be true, staying on your path is actually far more comfortable than “blazing your own trail” through life.  Staying on the path is more comfortable in part because it is much safer.  Also, you will be with others who think as you do.  Also, there are supervisors or helpers along the path who will guide you and advise you.

Sureness.  This is not the same as safety or comfort.  Sureness means that thousands, or perhaps millions of other people have traveled the same path as you are traveling.  You benefit from their experience and this makes traveling on the path much more safe and secure.

WHAT DOES A PATH TEACH?

Discipline.  Following paths require discipline.  For example, there are certain ways to deal with problems that arise on the path.  There are rules to follow for living, and there are procedures that require specific steps and actions.

Persistence or steadiness.  Paths generally require plenty of persistence and patience.  The outcome is assured if you stay on the path, but the path can be long and winding.

Self-love.  This is an important lesson of true paths.  Self-love means respecting and caring about yourself enough to stay with the path in spite of criticism and derision from others – often those in your own family or circle of friends.

ISN’T FOLLOWING A PATH RATHER UNCERTAIN?

It can be.  However, the whole idea of a path is to provide more certainty, and a good path will provide this certainty.

Unfortunately, there are many paths that are not healthful or certain at all.  For example, some people follow the vegetarian path of life.  This one sounds very good, and has scientific research to back it up.  However, in our experience, it is a dangerous and faulty path that, in the long run, does not at all deliver what is promised.  This kind of path is thus very uncertain.

IS A PERSON EVER ON HIS OR HER OWN PATH?

Some people do not want to live and travel on a set path.  They prefer to “go it alone” on their own path.  This sounds okay, but a question arises – are you ever really on your own path?

We suggest the answer is no.  The reason is that if you do not follow a set path such as nutritional balancing, you are much more at the mercy of societal and other forces that effectively tell you what to do, what to say and even what to think.  You will not realize how influenced and brainwashed you are, but it is the truth.  Staying on a path protects a person from some, or perhaps all of these temptations.  It is an illusion to think you are on your own path.

THE WIZARD OF OZ STORY

A story in which a path played an important role was the famous book and movie, The Wizard of Oz.  This is far more than a silly children’s movie.  It was a series of dreams that a man had about his fiancé that were later made into a movie.

In the story, Dorothea is repeatedly told that if she wants to go home she must “follow the yellow brick road”.  Along the way, she meets various people and has a number of experiences.  For more details, read The Wizard Of Oz – A Tale Of Development.
