DEFINITION

Marinated artichoke hearts is a prepared food. It consists of artichoke hearts mixed with sunflower or other oil, distilled vinegar, spices, and salt. It may contain other ingredients such as a little citric acid, ascorbic acid, garlic and onion.

It is “cooked”, but not with heat. This preserves certain nutrients.

We have added marinated artichoke hearts to the development diet. It is very tasty and it seems to be helpful or needed at this time for everyone.

WHY EAT MARINATED ARTICHOKE HEARTS?

Artichoke hearts contain many nutrients. We have not analyzed them nutritionally. However, they seem to be helpful.

Artichoke hearts are technically a fruit, but are not sweet and are not a typical fruit. As is the case with certain other fruits, we believe they help maintain the upper energy centers of a person's body.

HOW MUCH?

One need not eat much of this food. For adults, we recommend about one artichoke heart every third day or about two per week. Children need about half this much, depending upon their age.

HOW TO EAT MARINATED ARTICHOKE HEARTS

I just spear one with a fork and put it directly into my mouth. The taste is a bit strong, but pleasant. Other ways to eat it are to mix it with cooked vegetables and eat these together. Also, one could put a heart on a blue corn chip and eat it this way. One could mix it with meat or other food.

CAUTIONS

So far, no one has reported any ill effects from eating a few marinated artichokes per week.
