ENERGY MEDICINE

If
matter is nothing but condensed energy, then all healing is energy
healing. This, of course, would
also include drugs, surgery, herbs and most forms of healing.
However,
energy healing techniques are usually defined as those in which the movement or
balancing of subtle forms of energy is the primary intent and focus of the
technique. This is a very general
definition of a huge area of medicine.
Below are just some of the most popular methods of energy healing or as
it is sometimes called, energy medicine.
EXAMPLES OF ENERGY HEALING METHODS
There
are thousands of energy healing methods.
Space only permits a brief mention of a few of them. Some are household words, while others
are less well known. While
many are Eastern in origin, a surprising number developed in the West.
Acupuncture originated in
India and is thousands of years old.
It postulates the existence
of energy channels in the body, called meridians, that control all bodily
functions. The acupuncturist
assesses these meridians and then uses needles, herbs and occasionally other
methods to strengthen and balance the energy meridians.
Acupressure, jin shin
jyutsu, foot reflexology and zone therapy. These and other methods are also based
on channels of energy or chi flowing throughout the body. Instead of needles, the practitioner
uses touch or pressure to affect the flow of energy in the meridian system.
Related
methods include yoga, chanting, singing at times, Sufi dancing, tai chi, chi
kung, Polarity, therapeutic touch, craniosacral work, Feldenkreis, rolfing,
chakra balancing and shiatsu, some forms of meditation, imagery
and visualization techniques. Others are prayer and the laying
on of hands. These are the
oldest of the energy healing methods and remain among the very best.
Machines. There are literally dozens of machines
today that activate, strengthen and can at times balance energies in the
body. Some are older than others
but all do essentially the same thing to the degree that they can affect the
body’s energies. Among these are Electro-acupuncture
according to Voll (EAV), Vega, Cmputron, QXCI, foot baths and Vibe Machine. Others include diathermy, acuscope,
multi-wave oscillators, Rife machines, Bioenergy Field Enhancement Units,
Microdynameter and many
others.
The
patient holds electrodes or places his feet on metal pads or there is some
other metehod to hook the patient up to the machine. These are the diagnostic wave of the future, in my view, as
they can tell a lot very quickly at low cost and without invasive tests and
procedures. However, they will
never replace x-rays and other methods completely in all cases, especially for
surgery.
Aromatherapy is the
application of herb and flower essences for healing. It may be considered an energetic method. Indeed, the energetic qualities of the
oils can be measured. The use of gem
elixirs for healing, and the use of crystals worn on the body
or placed in a home are other forms of energy balancing and healing. It is well known that different
minerals have different vibrations.
The Bach flower remedies and the Schussler cell salts are energetic
uses of flower essences and tissue minerals.
Color,
light and sound therapies are well-researched forms of vibrational
healing. The body may be exposed
to colored lights, or the patient drinks water from colored containers that
have been left in the sun to acquire the frequency of that color.
Applied
kinesiology is a method of testing muscle strength and is an
energetic testing method. Geopathic
sciences are concerned with the energies of the earth, and their relationship
to our health. The science of sacred
geometry is concerned with the energies of certain shapes, the placement and
arrangements of objects such as pyramids, and the abilities of certain forms or
shapes to concentrate, absorb or broadcast energies.
There
are many more energy healing sciences, and there are many practitioners who do
energy healing without giving it a name.
THEORY OF ENERGY MEDICINE
All
energy healing methods postulate the existence of invisible fields of energy
that permeate and create our bodies.
These fields go by various names including the chakras, the aura, the
acupuncture meridians, the vital force, chi, qi, the odic force, orgone energy
and others. Enhancing, balancing,
or otherwise altering these fields or frequencies of energy is the key to all
energetic healing methods.
Most
or all methods of energy medicine share certain principles:
· Subtle
energies are real, and reflect and affect our health.
· Subtle
energies actually create our physical bodies. Therefore, subtle energy treatments address the causes of
illness at deep levels.
· The
intensity, quality, and balance of the body's energies can be altered by human
contact, machines, potentized remedies, movements, breathing, and even one's
thoughts and attitudes.
· Another
human being can be used to direct or balance energies, to absorb or broadcast
energies, or to act as a "jumper cable" to connect energetic points
on the body.
· Resonance,
induction and entrainment are important in energetic healing. Resonance is a rapport or harmony that can be established
between two energies, frequencies or individuals.
· Induction is the idea that a frequency or energy sent out by one person, remedy
or machine can cause a similar pattern in another person or substance.
· Entrainment is the process of matching another’s vibration, and then altering your
energy in order to effect change in the other.
· Distance
is sometimes not a barrier for energetic healing, since the energies permeate
all space. Treatments of certain
kinds such as prayer may be done hands on, at a distance, mentally, or even
using a surrogate to test remedies and to test frequencies. Some of the sciences use an object from
the patient, such as a photograph, or sample of hair or blood.
· It
is most helpful for the client to be receptive to the treatment. No healing takes place unless the
client wishes it to be so, whether or not healer and client are aware of it.
· There
are layers of energetic imbalances.
While some energy medicine sciences suggest that one treatment is
enough, most suggest a number of sessions to work through layers of imbalanced
energies.
· Most
energetic healing methods blend physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual
healing together to some degree.
Unlike conventional medical science that often tries to separate these,
the energetic medical arts often see them as interdependent.
MOST ENERGY MEDICINE IS SYMPTOMATIC
This
is the unfortunate part of most energy medicine techniques, though not
all. This means that much of
energy medicine is quite superficial in its effects. This is the main reason I don’t recommend it very
highly. There are exceptions,
however, and these are discussed in a separate article entitled Symptomatic Healing, What Is It?
MORE ON HOMEOPATHY AND RADIONICS
Many people ask about the value of and differences
between energetic approaches to healing such as homeopathy and radionics, as
compared with nutritional balancing science. This section will address concerns, especially about
homeopathy. Let us begin with
important definitions.
Homeopathy is a system of healing
first proposed by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann over 150 years ago. Without going into detail, the
practitioner uses very dilute, potentized dosages of all kinds of mineral,
vegetable and animal substances to effect changes in the body.
Interestingly, homeopathic remedies are produced
by a very specific process designed to bring out the energetic properties of
the substance. By the time they
are done with processing, there is little if any of the actual substance
present in the remedy. It is a
pure energetic product, in other words.
Homeopathy has two main branches of
practitioners who often violently disagree with each other on the use of the
remedies.
Classical
homeopathy involves taking a specific type of lengthy case history that often
requires several hours. Then the
homeopath prescribes a remedy based on the constitution of the person. This is not an easy decision, as there
are several thousand remedies to choose from.
If the correct remedy is given in the correct
dosage and number of applications, often remarkable changes occur in the
patient. Unfortunately, a lot of
training is required and even then, prescribing is lengthy, costly and not all
that accurate in most cases.
Modern
European Homeopathy. Within the past two decades,
another type of homeopathy has gained a lot of popularity. It is an expansion of the old classical
style that does away with the constitutional remedy in most cases.
Instead, prescribing is based on symptoms in
some instances. Also, some practitioners
use electroacupuncture and other types of machines, kinesiology (muscle
testing), radionic devicees (explained later) or other methods to assess the
needs of the patient.
Another difference in the newer homeopathy
is the use of more modern remedies
of toxic chemicals and many other things.
Radionics is a science that
depends on the concept that each germ, disease, organ, nutrient and even subtle
body of a person is characterized by one or more specific electromagnetic
frequencies.
This is a fabulous claim that is largely
true. However, using this
knowledge correctly is another thing.
Diagnostics. Radionic devices tune or pick up these
frequencies from a person’s body.
Thus it can be used for diagnostic purposes in amazing ways without the
need for invasive and often costly tests.
It is the diagnosis of the future without a doubt.
Treatment.
The same machine can then be switched to actually add needed beneficial
frequencies to the body such as those for more strength, courage, vitamins or minerals.
The devices can also usually be switched to a
mode where it can help remove harmful frequencies that might, for example,
correspond with a germ, parasite or particular type of cancer.
Radionics is a fascinating science that has
endless possibilities and more and more machines are available using this basic
technology. A few of the more
popular ones are the Computron, QXCI, Ondomed and the older SE-5 and many, many
others.
The science developed in the early 20th
century. Usually the person to be
helped holds electrodes or they are strapped to the body to create the
interface with the machine and practitioner. However, an exciting feature of radiionics is that it can be
done at a distance with only a sample of hair, a fingernail and some claim just
the signature or an object belonging to the person to be worked on. When true, this saves a lot of time and
money traveling to a practitioner, of course.
Newer
machines link to computers to greatly enhance the speed at which one can search
through thousands of frequencies to find the ones a person requires or those
one needs to rid from the body.
Many
newer machines offer an attachment whereby the practitioner can place the
beneficial frequencies in a dropper bottle of water or even in a vitamin or
other pill. The practitioner
basically places the bottle of distilled water or other substance on a tray or
copper plate and turns some switches to energize the water or other substance
with the desired frequencies.
The idea is to allow the person undergoing
healing to continue the treatment at home over an extended period of time. Otherwise the person must keep
returning to the practitioner for future sessions.
Radionic machines can also check the frequencies
of herbs, vitamins, drugs and any other substance by pl;acing the substance on
a charging plate similar to the plate described in the paragraph above.
ADVANTAGES
OF HOMEOPATHY AND RADIONICS
Energetic
approaches have the followig advantages over all other healing approaches.
1.
Low Cost. The remedies tend to be inexpensive and
in many instances, the person to be treated can be sitting at home, saving
transportation costs and more.
2.
Often Effective, especially for some conditions. Many conditions respond to these
machines in most cases. Not all
cases will respond, as with all methods.
However, many people feel better and this is the ultimate consideration
for most people today.
3.
Excellent for diagnosing and some prevention of disease states. This has been explained above. A radionic device can sort through
thousands of conditions. It can
sometimes detect a cancer far earlier than with conventional methods, for
example.
It is also much faster, cheaper and less
invasive than most medical methods, though it is not a complete substitute by
any means. For example, an MRI can
pinpoint a break or a tumor better than most energetic machines.
However, I believe energetic techniques will be
used widely in the future.
Diagnosis will resemble the devices on Star Trek and other science
fiction shows.
In a strict sense, x-rays and scans such as MRI,
PET and CAT are energetic medicine.
However, they are costly and dangerous if they impart radiation to the
body, unlike the energetic methods discussed in this article.
4.
Energetic therapies are safe. That
is, they are non-invasive and their remedies are nont-toxic most of the
time. This is not entirely true,
but compared with drugs and even vitamins, they are quite safe.
5.
Easy on the patient. A final
advantage from one perspective is that little is asked of the patient. No dietary, lifestyle, emotional or
attitudinal changes are required in most cases, so compliance is good and it
can be done on almost anyone, even on animals and plants.
6.
Sometimes Easy to learn. Many radionic
and electroacupunctrue devices and other energetic medicine systems such as
applied kinesiology can be learned by anyone with a little practice.
However, classical and even European homeopathy
and some energetic techniques require tremendous skill and years of experience
to do well
PROBLEMS
WITH HOMEOPATHY AND RADIONICS
Problems
with energetic medicine include the following:
1.
Classical homeopathy and some other energetic techniques are difficult to learn
and practice effectively. Most honest homeopaths
will admit this readily. One must
find the correct remedy out of thousands.
If the wrong one is picked, there will be no help and there could be
adverse effects, though not life-threatening.
Modern
European homeopathy is symptom-based and for this reason easier to learn and practice. Most people can be trained to use
electroacupuncture and radionics machines, including many without medical
training. This brings us to the
next problem with energetic approaches.
2.
Little understanding on the part of many practitioners. Many practitioners of energetic
medicine lack medical knowledge to any significant degree. While some are “naturals” at it, this
can be a problem because the application of the technique may not be done
correctly and can lead to other problems.
3.
Any symptomatic approach tends to mask underlying diseases and conditions. Getting rid of symptoms easily and
quickly often invites people to believe they are in excellent health when they
are not. However, they are taught
the practitioners to just come back if another symptom arises. This may not be enough one day and, in
the meantime, deeper illness has developed. At that point, the symptomatic approach just is ineffective.
4.
Dependence on the practitioner.
Many radionic machines, in particular, seem to depend a lot on the
sckill and intuition of the operator.
This is an advantage for the very good practitiones, but makes it hard
for others to learn and apply the method.
5.
By not requiring significant lifestyle changes, along with diet and nutritional
supplements, the techniques do not produce much spiritual development. This is explained later I this
article. This is the most
important drawback of energetic medicine from my perspective.
In
fairness, some energetic methods included lifestyle and diet and may even
suggest nutritional supplements. However, in my experience with a number of
practitioners, this is usually not the focus of the treatment.
In
summary, energetic methods tend to be symptomatic in nature. This and the lack of participation of
the person being healed are the most significant drawbacks.
ENERGETIC DIAGNOSIS IS EXCELLENT IN SOME CASES
What
I do recommend is the use of energetic methods for assessment. They can often pick up problems faster
and less expensively than medical diagnosis, though not always. They will never replace medical
diagnosis, but can be an excellent alternative or addition to medical methods
of diagnosis.
ENERGETIC METHODS CAN ENHANCE VITALITY TEMPORARILY IN
MOST CASES, THOUGH NOT ALL
Another
benefit of energetic healing methods is to enhance vitality in the body. Homeopathy, radionics and the many other
energetic medicine techniques often do this to some extent. In fact, every healing system must do
so in order to produce lasting results, which these systems can produce on
occasion. However, too often the
results are temporary or fleeting.
On most radionic machines, for example, there are
frequencies to increase vitality that one should use first if the patient’s
vitality is deemed to be low.
However, in my experience this is not the same
as gaining vitality by eating well, sleeping a lot, taking the proper vitamins
and minerals to rebuild the body and eliminating all the toxins from the body
such as the metals and many hundreds or thousands of toxic chemicals. It is simply not the same, no matter
what anyone claims.
I cannot prove this to anyone’s satisfaction who
believes more in energy medicine.
However, I have worked with literally thousands of people who have been
to many energy medicine practitioners and there is something missing. That is the best I can say.
I believe that homeopathy and other energetic
methods can temporarily increase the vitality. But that is all they can do. They can also destroy vitality if they approach the body
symptomatically only. What I mean
is they can miss important imbalances such as slow or fast oxidation, four low
electrolyte pattern and others. In
doing so, they make the person worse because they take away the symptom but not
the underlying cause. This is my
other problem with energy medicine.
In a word, they distract from the larger
picture, which is the need for self-discipline, emotional detachment,
purification, remineralization of the body through diet and lifestyle changes,
and perfection of the body and mind on all levels.
This is a complex subject. For more information
