Chakras are spinning vortices of energy that energize the physical body. The aura is a set of subtle bodies that completely surround and pass through the physical body of every living thing.

These two subtle energy systems form the basis for an unseen anatomy and physiology that will take on greater importance in the years to come. This article is designed to introduce you to these subtle energy systems.

THE CHAKRAS

The chakras are spinning vortices of energy that create the physical and the six subtle bodies. The first seven charkas are on the physical body. The astral body has two. When one is undeveloped, the etheric, mental, causal, monadic and spiritual bodies have none.

As one unfolds spiritually, the etheric body develops seven chakras although when fully developed they blend into one. The mental body develops two chakras and the causal, monadic and spiritual bodes each develop one.

The First Seven Chakras. There are seven main chakras on the physical body. The first three are often referred to as the lower chakras. They are concerned with physical and emotional survival of the self and its growth, reproduction and development. These dominate life as a child. However, most adults remain stuck at these lower levels of functioning.

The first seven chakras are on the physical body. All are double funnels joined at the narrow ends except the first and seventh. While they move separately, as a unit they all move back and forth in a rhythmic motion and they wobble together up and down. As they move back and forth, together they all pulse bright to dim.

THE FIRST CHAKRA

This should be located about two inches directly above the anal area if one is standing. Its shape is that of an extremely wide funnel facing downward and slightly forward at a 15 degree angle. It looks like a ballet dress, slightly higher in front than in back because of the 15 degree forward tilt. It has a reddish or magenta color depending on one’s toxicity level. The first chakra is associated with the reproductive system.

On a broader level, the first chakra concerns one’s physical base or structure. This includes one’s nutrition and lifestyle, eating habits, physical environment, how, where and with whom one lives, physical organs and systems, toxins and infections. It also includes the autonomic nervous system.

This chakra needs the most work in the majority of the population. Exposure to toxic chemicals, bad food and eating habits and stressful lifestyles contribute greatly to physical mental and emotional illness. Red light, nutritional balancing and healthful, relaxed lifestyles help develop this chakra.

THE SECOND CHAKRA

This should be about three inches below the navel and about 3/4 of the way through to the back. It looks like two narrow funnels, one opening forward and one opening backward, joined at the narrow end. The forward-opening funnel angles upward at 15 degrees. The backward-opening funnel angles down at 15 degrees. The color is light to dark orange depending on one’s toxicity level. The second chakra is associated with the adrenal glands, and large and small intestines and has to do with energy, chi or vital force.

On a broader level, it concerns the balance of the emotions and masculine and feminine energy. Those with difficulty in this area suppress either their masculine or feminine side with overdevelopment of the other aspect. This usually stems from childhood experiences although it can be due to toxic substances causing sex hormone imbalances.

Orange light, Exercise, yoga, tai chi and chi kung are helpful for this chakra, as are Lemurian tantric yoga and psychodrama. Other useful therapies include rolfing, jin shin jyutsu, shiatsu, acupuncture and acupressure, massage, feldenkreis and other body work.

THE THIRD CHAKRA

This should be about three horizontal fingers or two inches below the bottom of the sternum or breast bone and about 3/4 of the way through to the back. It looks like two funnels that open at about 45-degree angles. One extends forward and up at a 15-degree angle. The other opens backward and is angled downward at 15 degrees. The color ranges from light to dark yellow depending on one’s toxicity level. The third chakra is associated with the stomach, liver, spleen and pancreas.

On a broader level, the third chakra has to do with ego strength and issues regarding power, control and manipulation of the physical environment. It is also concerned with thoughts and judgments. Those with difficulty in this area hold powerful negative thoughts or beliefs about the self or others. Some feel they must manipulate and control others in order to survive. Yellow light, reading, meditation, affirmations, psychotherapy and positive imagery may be helpful to correct imbalances in this chakra.

THE FOURTH CHAKRA

This should be in the center of the chest, at the level of the nipples, close to the bottom of the breast bone and 3/4 of the way through the back. The shape is sometimes described as a lotus flower, rounded and extending outward in front and in the back. The flower in front angles upward at 15 degrees. The one in back angles15 degrees downward. The color varies from light green to dark grey depending on one’s health and toxicity level. The fourth chakra is associated with the heart, lungs and thymus gland.

On a broader level, this chakra concerns giving and receiving, obligations and agreements and receiving love and grace. It also has to do with boundaries. People with difficulty in this area often feel undeserving of love. They have ‘hardened their heart’ for some reason. Some are also selfish or lack motivation to accomplish tasks set before them.

The fourth is a transition chakra to the higher energy centers. It is the first chakra that does not build the ego and instead begins development of the higher emotions such as empathy, compassion and wisdom.

Green light, pets, stress reduction therapy, prayer, meditation, psychodrama and other therapies can help develop this chakra.

THE FIFTH CHAKRA

This should be at the level of the adam’s apple and 3/4 of the way back through the neck. Its shape is like two wide funnels, joined at the narrow ends. The one that opens to the front angles up 15 degrees. The one that opens backward angles down 15 degrees. The color varies from light to dark blue depending on one’s toxicity level. The fifth chakra is associated with the thyroid gland.

On a broader level, this chakra concerns expression in the world through one’s work, hobbies, relationships, speaking, writing and so forth. Those with difficulty in this area are inhibited or feel incompetent, stupid or otherwise unable to express their gifts. Blocked expression contributes to problems with the thyroid, throat, tonsils and neck. Blue light, counseling and learning to express oneself help develop this chakra.

THE SIXTH CHAKRA

This should begin near the pituitary gland, between the eyebrows, inside the head about half way to the back of the head. It appears two very, very wide funnels, one extending forward and one extending backwards joined at the narrow ends. The forward one angles up 15 degrees. The one facing backward angles down 15 degrees. They resemble the light beams from a lighthouse, one shining forward and the other backward. The color ranges from light to dark indigo. It is associated with the eyes, vision and the pituitary gland.

The sixth chakra concerns competence, compassion, understanding of the larger picture and a broad vision of the world. It is associated with wisdom and vision. Those with difficulty in this area are focused on their ego lives. They are often successful in the ego world and understand truth. However, they lack a broad perspective and a desire to share their knowledge in the larger world. Their actions are limited. Indigo light, travel, prayer and study helps develop this chakra.

THE SEVENTH CHAKRA

This also called the crown chakra. It should begin near the pineal gland, close to the middle of the skull. It resembles a single, medium-width funnel opening upwards from the crown of the head, and tilted back at a 15 degree angle. Its color ranges from light to deep violet. The seventh chakra is associated with the pineal gland and spiritual development.

On a broader level it is associated with conviction, knowing and alignment with purpose. Opening the seventh chakra is necessary to receive greater knowledge and wisdom that is beyond the level of the body. Those with difficulty in this area are aware of the truth but don’t always practice it, especially as it affects physical health. They may live on poor quality food or exhaust themselves, for example, although they know better. They may waver or allow others to influence them against their best interests.

Violet light and a strong desire to connect with the higher self and practice what one knows help develop the seventh chakra. The use of the antenna of the multiwave oscillator also helps develop the seventh chakra.  Many other methods can also be used, especially a grounding meditation to bring energy in from the head to the body.

CHAKRA IMBALANCES

At birth, the chakras are narrow and less than two inches in length. They spin evenly, brightly and in correct alignment. Physical and emotional stress and trauma diminish their intensity and distort and damage them in various ways.

By the time one reaches adulthood, their size and shape are distorted and they usually rotate backward and unevenly. Their location is often off center and they spin too slowly with low intensity. Their color is often dark or grey. Those that should rotate inward may rotate outward and vice versa. The result is toxicity, low vitality, and physical and emotional imbalances. Death occurs when they stop completely.

Causes of these distortions and imbalances include fatigue, which slows the chakra spin. Emotional trauma is another important cause of imbalances. Poor diet affects the chakras, as do injuries, accidents, illnesses, electromagnetic stress, geopathic stress and emotions such as fear, worry, unhappiness, anger, guilt and other emotions.

Prenatal Influences. Chakra imbalances often begin before one is born, although babies generally have chakras that spin evenly and with great intensity. If one’s parents were in poor health, unbalanced emotionally, angry, distraught or genetically weak, the child’s chakras are affected before birth by induction.  Similar to that which occurs between two in an intimate relationship. The mother’s health, fitness and emotional balance is most important as the unborn child is so close to her all of the time. However, the father’s influence is also strong at all times due to his genetic influence.

CHAKRA INTEGRATION

As the charkas begin to grow and balance, they begin to overlap and the overall color of the upper charkas take on a whiter glow or appearance.  This is the traditional halo seen in  art works and pictures depicting saints and other holy people.  However, anyone can develop their charkas to this degree with some effort and persistence.

CHAKRA HEALING

There are many methods of balancing and correcting the chakras. This section will discuss breathing, chanting and color therapy.

CHAKRA BREATHING EXERCISES

Breathing into the chakras is another way to energize, develop and align them. For this exercise, one needs to know the rough location of the chakras and their direction of spin, shape, size and color.

Sit or lie down in a relaxed state. Inhale slowly, absorbing energy from every direction through the skin. As one exhales, direct the energy to one of the chakras, visualizing it in its fully developed size, shape, color, location and spin. Repeating this a number of times, one may notice it becomes easier to visualize the chakra properly. After about 30 repetitions, move on to the next chakra. The order is not important.

When one has done all 7 chakras, combine them, sending the breath to all simultaneously. The entire chakra system should shimmer and pulsate with energy.

CHAKRA COLOR THERAPY

Sitting in front of colored lights or drinking water exposed to sunlight or other lights is another method of energizing and aligning the chakras. To use colored lights, it is best to be unclothed. Color therapy can be done during a massage or in a sauna, for example.

To receive the benefits of colors, one must spend 15 to 60 minutes per day exposed to them. Use just one or two at a time, focusing on those chakras that are misaligned. Just sitting in the sun or in white light is not as powerful as using the individual colors. Exposing the body to colored lights is more effective than drinking colored water.

Red energizes the first and twelfth chakras. Orange energizes the second and thirteenth chakras. Yellow energizes the third and fourteenth.

Green energizes the fourth chakra. Blue energizes the fifth and eighth, indigo the sixth and ninth, violet and seventh and tenth.  Infrared energizes the first and tenth chakras, and far infrared the eleventh.

CHAKRA CHANTING

A very well-known Hebrew prayer can energize chakras one through seven: Shema Yisrael, adonai elohenu, adonai echad. (In English: Hear, O Israel, the lord our God the lord is one).

Certain sounds also energize the chakras. A ‘rrrrr’ sound energizes the first chakra. An ‘eh’ sound energizes the second. An ‘eeee’ sound energizes the third. An ‘ah’ sound energizes the fourth. An ‘oh’ sound energizes the fifth. A ‘oo’ sound energizes the sixth. An ‘ow’ sound energizes the seventh.

THE AURA

The aura is  glow that appears around all living things.  It is made up of many components, one of which is the glow of the charkas.  Other components have to do with the health of the person or animal, and there is more.

The aura can be seen very close to living bodies and even rocks and other minerals.  It can be photographed with a Kirlian electro-photography apparatus.  This is a camera setup in which the object to be photographed is placed in a special high-voltage magnetic field.  With this setup, the glow of the person’s aura or that of the object is easily seen on photographic paper.

The aura actually radiates from two to hundreds of feet around every person and object. Those trained to read its colors and textures know it reveals information about one’s health, thoughts, emotions, moods and much more.  Some people can be trained to see auras, and some see them without any training.  They are often very sensitive individuals who are born this way with this talent.

Everyone, however, feels auras to some extent when they interact with others.  We all describe people as "warm", "cold", "intense", "bubbly", "hard", "soft", "strong", "weak", "open" or "closed".  A peek at the aura would reveal these traits actually exist in the energy field of the person.

The aura is actually composed of layers.  These correspond to different subtle bodies of the human and animals.  The following are the most important of these layers of the human aura.

The Astral Body. This subtle body occupies about the same area as the physical body.  The astral body is governed by emotions and one’s emotional state and tendencies.  It varies in color depending on the mood and appearance of the person’s emotional makeup at any time.

Thus a person’s emotional energy influences its color and intensity greatly.  The color of the astral body is not fixed.  It varies from a deep tan or grey in those who are very emotionally depressed to a light green in those who are healthier on the emotional level.  This is hard to comprehend for some, who believe that the astral body is red or green all f the time.  Most people, however, have a dominant color of their astral body.  Our interpretation of the basic colors are as follows:

1. Red equals anger.  Most people on earth have a red astral body.  This is because anger is a common emotion, especially for young women and those over the age of fifty-five, also.  Anger is the emotion of thought that is not in harmony with one’s spiritual development.

Those who are in middle age often lose the red color and go more toward a greenish color.  This is the color of harmony with one’s life.  Love, when it manifests in the emotional body, is a green-colored astral body.  People in middle age have often settled down a bit, so their aura feels and looks more settled and greenish.  Red is the color of disturbance, anxiety as well as anger.

2. Yellow equals caution.  Yellow is a cautious person who is usually emotionally repressed.  Yellow in the aura of a person is frequently associated with fear, anxiety, depression and so forth.  Yellow is also associated with illness in the physical body, such as being pale and sallow.

3. Orange is associated with fear.  Orange in the aura is common as well in people who are physically ill.  Orange is also common in those who are full of rage, but not anger.  Rage is more subtle and pertains to the quality of knowing what is right but not able to express it or live your truth.  This is what we mean by rage, as opposed to anger.

4. Green is the color of balance in the aura.  It is a wonderful color that we look for most of the time in everyone’s aura.  Green pertains to the heart chakra, and implies that this chakra is developed, at least to some degree.

5. Blue is not often seen in the astral body.  It is the color of the fifth chakra, primarily, and is associated wit advanced development of the higher emotions such as creativity.

6.  Indigo and Violet are rarely seen in the aura of a person.  However, it occurs a lot with some people who are very spiritually oriented.  These are people for whom the emotion of love and related emotions such as compassion are in ascendance.  These individuals are gifts to humanity and are to be revered when found.

The astral body also blends with the etheric aura in advanced souls, which are those who have done significant meditative work to clear the lower emotions from their entire mental and physical being.  When the etheric color mixes with the astral green or bluish hue, it produces a beautiful color pattern of indigo and a yellowish glow at the head.  This is a sign of development that is wonderful to behold.  The astral body or aura also pulses bright to dim every two to four seconds.

The Etheric Body. This is the other aura component thtat is most important in most people.  It is a body that develops later in life in most people.  Usually it does not begin to develop until age 29 or 30.

The etheric body is unique for the human being.  This means that it does not develop in animals.  Nor do the other subtle bodies, which have names such as the mental, spiritual, causal and others.

The etheric body ha to do with development of the higher brain centers.  These govern the impulses of goodwill, compassion and overarching emotions associated with advanced spiritual truth such as we read about in the great teachers and leaders in the bible.  If one reads the bible or other spiritual texts, the etheric body will develop much faster.  This is the best reason to attend churches or read the bible, although it will help one learn many other lessons as well.

This body extends up to 40 feet above the head and 35 feet below the ground, and may be up to ten feet in diameter. Its color and size varies depending on the quality and nature of the thoughts of the person.  It finally becomes a bright yellow color, although it appears blue because it blends with the green of the astral body in many cases.

It pulses bright to dim yellow once every two to four seconds. Its shape is like that of a human with a very long midsection and rather short legs.

It has no genitals, as these are not part of its structure.  However, it is very connected with the human genital orgasm.  The pulsing of the etheric body corresponds to the pulse of the genital orgasm in people over the age of 30.  In those under 30, the pulse has to do with the astral body pulsation.

This is a complex topic, but it has to do with opening of the aura during copulation.  This is part of the attraction of sex for many people.  Sex actually allows them to open to higher learning for a few minutes.  However, usually this fact is not used to advantage at all.  The partners are too focused on pleasure or sensation to even think about anything else at this time.  However, in times past and, in the future, this aspect of sex will be developed in some conscious couples.

ADVANCED DEVELOPMENT OF THE ETHHERIC BODY

In most people, the etheric body does not become very large.  Usually, it is small, barely extending a few inches beyond the physical body.  This is as far as most people go in their spiritual development during their earth lifetimes.  However, much more is possible, and roughly 1000 people a year progress beyond this state.  This is not too important to discuss because it involves only a handful of people.  However, for the sake of completeness we will mention what happens in these cases.

In those who will meditate each and everey day for at least an hour or so, the etheric body grows very large (tall and wide), extending a mile or more from the physical body.  It then divides into two overlapping bodies. One etheric body is mainly above the earth’s surface, standing upright at all times, even when the person lays down to rest.

A second etheric body stands upside down, with the feet uppermost and the head facing down, under the earth.  The two bodies intersect at about the level of the knees.  This place is about at the level of the knees of the physical body.  This is a very unusual condition on earth, but one that can be developed with our program.  That is why we mention it here.

In the developed person, there is one lone chakra shaped like a star tetrahedron.  This is a double tetrahedron with one of them right side up and one upside down joined together at their bases.  This is important because there is an eercise called a mercaba meditation designed to develop this star tetrahedron.  We tell you, however, that this is impossible if one does do the entire program needed to develop the etheric body.  Indeed, this meditation can be quite dangerous by opening up the crown chakra too much before the person is ready for it.  Therefore, we do not like this meditation.  It is no longer needed, either, for when the etheric body develops the mercaba pattern develops on its own.

THE UPPER SUBTLE BODIES

The three lower bodies, physical, etheric and astral, are of greatest importance for most people.  Therefore we will not discuss the upper subtle bodies such as the mental, causal and spiritual bodies, although they are most interesting.  They pertain only to those on a spiritual path who have the time and attention to progress rapidly on a spiritual development that is difficult if not impossible without definite guidance of a type that few can obtain here on earth.  However, these advanced subtle bodies represent the entire human potential and with them comes various “powers” or abilities that we have read about in the bible and other texts of this nature.
